Shipping & Delivery Policy

This policy outlines how heavy industrial goods, machinery, and raw materials are transported from verified suppliers to buyers on the ForgeNet marketplace.

Last updated: June 2026

1. Logistics Partners & Responsibility

Heavy logistics for industrial orders on ForgeNet are handled by one of two channels:

  • Verified Supplier Fleet: Many verified suppliers operate their own dedicated freight fleets or have long-term contracts with local heavy-haul carriers. In these cases, the supplier manages dispatch, tracking, and delivery coordination directly.
  • Third-Party Freight Carriers: For cross-border, inter-state, or specialized cargo (oversized machinery, hazardous materials), ForgeNet coordinates with vetted third-party freight and logistics partners experienced in industrial transport.

The responsible party (supplier direct or third-party carrier) is disclosed on the order confirmation, along with a tracking reference where available.

2. Estimated Delivery Timeline

Standard estimated delivery timelines for ForgeNet orders are as follows:

Domestic (India)
3 to 5 business days
Major metros and industrial corridors. Remote or hilly regions may add 1–2 days.
South Asia (SAARC)
5 to 8 business days
Subject to customs clearance and bilateral trade agreements.
Middle East & GCC
7 to 10 business days
Sea freight for bulk coils; air freight for smaller tooling and parts.
Southeast Asia
7 to 10 business days
Port-to-port or door-to-door depending on Incoterms agreed at checkout.
Africa, Europe, Americas
10 to 15 business days
Ocean freight for heavy machinery; express for urgent components.

These are estimates. Actual delivery may vary based on customs hold, weather, port congestion, or supplier production lead times. Buyers are notified proactively of any delays exceeding 48 hours.

3. Packaging & Handling

Suppliers on ForgeNet are required to follow industrial-grade packaging standards:

  • Steel coils and sheets must be secured with steel strapping, edge protectors, and moisture barriers.
  • Machinery must be crated or skidded with adequate cushioning, and marked with handling instructions (tilt, fragility, weight).
  • Hazardous or regulated materials must carry proper UN markings, MSDS sheets, and customs documentation.
  • All shipments must include a packing list, invoice, and Bill of Lading or airway bill as applicable.

4. Delivery Confirmation & Inspection

Upon delivery, buyers must follow these steps to ensure a smooth handover:

  • Inspect the outer packaging for visible damage before signing the delivery receipt.
  • Note any damage, short shipment, or discrepancies on the carrier's proof-of-delivery (POD) document.
  • Photograph the condition of the goods and packaging from multiple angles immediately upon arrival.
  • Report any issues within 48 hours through the Order Management dashboard to preserve eligibility for claims.

5. Customs, Duties & Import Compliance

For international shipments, buyers are responsible for:

  • All import duties, customs fees, VAT/GST, and clearance charges levied by the destination country.
  • Obtaining any required import licenses, permits, or certifications for regulated industrial goods.
  • Providing accurate customs documentation (IEC, tax ID, commercial invoices) to avoid delays or seizures.

ForgeNet and its suppliers provide commercial invoices and packing lists, but do not broker customs clearance on the buyer's behalf unless explicitly stated on the listing.

6. Delays, Force Majeure & Exceptions

ForgeNet is not liable for delivery delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters, strikes, port closures, or government-mandated lockdowns.
  • Customs inspections, holds, or regulatory changes in the destination country.
  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses provided by the buyer.
  • Carrier operational failures beyond ForgeNet's contractual scope.

In such events, we will coordinate with the carrier and supplier to reroute, reschedule, or arrange alternate delivery at the earliest opportunity.
